EngineeringUK has announced the addition of three new trustees to its board, effective December 1, 2025. The newly appointed members are James Murnieks, Jo Passingham, and Neil Young, each bringing a wealth of experience and expertise from their respective fields.

James Murnieks serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director at Siemens UK and Ireland. With a strong background in technology and digital transformation, Murnieks is focused on customer success, financial objectives, and sustainability initiatives. His involvement extends beyond Siemens, as he is also a member of the Make UK Economic Policy Committee and the UK Government’s Social Change Committee, specifically within the Economic Change and Investment Group. Murnieks holds an engineering degree from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales. He expressed enthusiasm about joining EngineeringUK at a critical time for the engineering sector, emphasizing the importance of engineering and technology in driving innovation.

Jo Passingham, another new trustee, highlighted her commitment to inspiring the next generation of engineers and enhancing the UK’s engineering workforce. She underscored the necessity for collaboration across the sector to tackle both challenges and opportunities, indicating her eagerness to work with fellow board members on initiatives that promote innovation, sustainability, and skills development.

Neil Young, who holds the titles of Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, is the Global Engineering Capability Director at Babcock International Group. In his role, he leads engineering strategy focusing on workforce skills and processes, particularly in the context of critical defense programs. Young is also a member of the global engineering executive board and co-chairs a working group within the Defence Industrial Joint Council that addresses workforce demand and academic partnerships. He expressed his honor in being appointed as a trustee, emphasizing the need for a diverse engineering workforce to foster economic growth and ensure national security.

The appointments of Murnieks, Passingham, and Young come at a time when EngineeringUK is looking to enhance its influence and initiatives aimed at supporting the engineering sector in the UK. Their diverse backgrounds and commitment to engineering and technology are expected to contribute significantly to the organization’s goals.
