U.S. fuel ethanol production rises, exports increase

Fuel ethanol production in the U.S. rose by 2% for the week ending September 27, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on October 2. Production averaged 1.015 million barrels per day, an increase of 21,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week. This was also 6,000 barrels per day higher than the same week last year, reports Ethanol Producer Magazine.

Ethanol stockpiles fell slightly, with inventories reaching 23.459 million barrels, a decrease of 65,000 barrels compared to the previous week. However, stocks were still 1.572 million barrels higher than the same period last year.

Exports of fuel ethanol saw a significant rise, averaging 102,000 barrels per day, a 17% increase from the previous week’s 87,000 barrels per day. Despite this weekly increase, exports were 20,000 barrels per day lower than the same week in 2022. No fuel ethanol imports were recorded during the week ending September 27.
