Tenesol, the global solar power provider owned by energy giants TOTAL and EDF, has launched a range of PV modules with a ‘positive tolerance’ between 0 – 3%.
This means that the company’s latest range of modules, which have a power rating of up to 300 Wp, can actually deliver an output up to 5 Wp greater than the stated maximum. The modules can be used in a wide range of applications and mark the latest achievement from Tenesol’s complete quality process.
Tenesol, which is the world’s leading French PV operator (both in turnover and production), achieved ‘positive tolerance’ following extensive research and development work at its advanced production facility in Toulouse, France. The facility boasts some industry-leading capabilities including the only Electroluminescence (flash test) machine in France and Tenesol’s unique 52 stage panel checking process (considerably more than the standard 10 stage).
“This latest achievement is a mark of Tenesol’s ability to create PV modules of the highest quality and productivity,” says Benoit Rolland, General Manager of Tenesol. “The company’s commitment to Total Quality and innovation is demonstrated through its certifications – ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 – and a unique 52 stage module testing process, which goes above and beyond the norm for our industry. This manufacturing philosophy has led to the creation of the company’s first positive tolerance modules and will no doubt lead to more successes in the future.”
The TE 2200 range uses high-output multicrystalline and monocrystalline technologies. Modules have an efficiency of up to 15.2% and a maximum power output of 250 Wp. Each individual module undergoes an extremely thorough testing process that includes flash testing after passing through a climatic chamber at extreme temperatures, checking every cell and every string individually by camera to spot even minute cracks, power measurement using class A solar simulators, ‘peel-test’ to check soldering points, ‘gel-content’ test to monitor the lamination process and electroluminescence tests.
The new ‘positive tolerance’ modules include:
TE 220/240-60P+ (multicrystalline)
• Power tolerance: 0 / +5 Wp
• Max. module efficiency: 14.6%
• Power output: 220 – 240 Wp
TE 235/250-60M+ (monocrystaline)
• Power tolerance: 0 / +5 Wp
• Max. module efficiency: 15.2%
• Power output: 235 – 250 Wp
Tenesol manufactures all its own PV modules at two production facilities in Toulouse, France and Cape Town, South Africa. All supply partners are thoroughly vetted and quality checked to ensure they meet the company’s exacting standards.
Since 2003, Tenesol has been ISO 9001 certified. Today the company’s design, manufacturing, installation and operation services have all reached the standard. Its two production facilities are also ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified.
Tenesol’s PV modules carry a 10 year warranty. In addition, their performance is also guaranteed to deliver at least 90% of nominal power for the first 10 years and 80% for the following 15 years.
