A 15-turbine, 30-megawatt wind energy project in Searsburg and Readsboro has the support of the Vermont Public Service Board
This makes the second project in three years signed off by the board.
Even as renewable energy is the national rage these days, the board still placed several permit conditions on the project.
These include requirements to mitigate the wind farms potential impact on the region’s black bear population. because the turbines are to be on a ridgetop believed to be essential habitat for the region’s bear population.
Searsburg already has the state’s only commercial wind development. Green Mountain Power placed 11 turbines along the ridgeline.
