Nancy McLean has been appointed to the role of Head of Offshore to lead Natural Power’s offshore business and explore new opportunities both within the UK and internationally. Nancy previously held the role of Principal Environmental Consultant in Natural Power’s Planning and Environment department and in her new position she will report direct to Pieter D’haen, Commercial Director.
Nancy joined Natural Power in 2003 and has been specialising in offshore renewables for the last eight years. She has been working closely with a number of offshore developers in the successful delivery of consent management services, and has a comprehensive understanding of the consenting, engineering, CAPEX and OPEX cost considerations in the delivery of offshore projects.
She has worked on many high profile projects including Codling Bank Wind Farm where she led Natural Power’s provision of consenting advice and EIA co-ordination for all aspects of the project; Inch Cape, working closely with the Repsol (now Red Rock Power) team in the development of the design envelope and in the ecological stakeholder consultation required to achieve consent for the project and now in the revised application for larger turbines; Moray Offshore Renewables, including extensive consultation with stakeholders and Marine Scotland during the consenting phase of the project; and Blyth Offshore Wind Demonstration Project, managing the scoping, EIA co-ordination and the consent management process through to consent award in 2013. She also acts as Project Director for Natural Powers EIA and consent management services for AQUIND’s interconnector cable between France and the UK, and is actively involved with working with our French offshore renewables clients.
Nancy McLean said: “Natural Power provides a comprehensive range of services to clients across the full lifecycle of offshore projects, and I am really looking forward to spearheading the co-ordination of all our services and delivery partners to guarantee added value to our customers globally.
“Offshore is entering a new phase now – the recent CfD rounds have shown that offshore wind is cost competitive in Europe. As these projects are built out and the assets come out of warranty across the European market, there will be significant opportunities to develop an asset management service. These opportunities are already developing for offshore sites within a European context, and Natural Power will continue to build upon its competency and capability to operate in this space.”
Pieter D’haen, Commercial Director at Natural Power, said: “Nancy has been with Natural Power for 15 years and has an excellent working knowledge of the team’s strengths and potential, coupled with a real depth of experience in the offshore sector. We are delighted that she has accepted the Head of Offshore position and look forward to supporting her in the further development of our offshore business and working together with our partners to develop additional competitive services for this market.”
