The U.S. Department of Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on November 9 leased nearly 344,000 acres off the coast of New Jersey for potential wind energy development. It was the fifth U.S. competitive lease sale for renewable energy in federal waters.
The New Jersey Wind Energy Area starts about seven nautical miles offshore and extends roughly 21 nautical miles seaward. The provisional winners are RES America Developments Inc., which bid $880,000 for one 160,480-acre lease area, and US Wind …read more
