The French Ministry of Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy (MEDDE) has revealed that it will allocate 4,350 MW of PV power through the solar auctions that will be held from the first quarter of 2016 to the first quarter of 2019. The auction calendar was included in a document showing then main actions that the French government intends to implement for the country’s energy transition.
Overall, the government will allocate 3 GW of PV power for ground-mounted solar projects and 1,350 MW for rooftop installations in the period. In 2016, the MEDDE will issue an RfP for 500 MW of ground-mounted PV projects in the third quarter, while it will issue two RfPs of 150 MW each for rooftop PV projects in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. In 2017, 1 GW of PV power will be allocated through two 500 MW RfPs for ground-mounted PV plants.
These Rfps will be published in the first and third quarters, respectively. Moreover, rooftop PV projects with a combined capacity of 450 MW will be selected through three 150 MW RfPs in 2017. These RfPs will be issued in the first, third and fourth quarters of 2017. In 2018, the MEDDE will also allocate 1 GW of PV power for ground-mounted PV projects and 450 MW of solar capacity for rooftop PV projects. The RfPs for these projects will be issued in the first, third and fourth quarters of 2018. Furthermore, the MEDDE will hold a 500 MW auction for ground-mounted projects and a 150 MW auction for rooftop PV installations in the first quarter of 2018.
