Commenting on this morning’s announcement by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy that sees a tripling in funding for the Renewable Energy Performance Platform (REPP):
Lisa Ashford, Managing Director, Lendahand Ethex Ltd says: “”The UK is a leading exporter of clean energy technology and today’s announcement is welcome news.
“There are 600 million people without clean, affordable energy supply in sub-Saharan Africa. This money will help support thousands of families and small businesses who rely on unreliable and dirty forms of fuel such as kerosene. It will also help meet UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 7 to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy by 2030. There is more to do and efforts must be coordinated on a global scale; according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), sub-Saharan Africa will require more than £30 billion if we are to achieve universal electricity by 2030.”
“To date Energise Africa has raised more than £6 million over 18 months and provided almost a quarter of a million people with access to clean, safe energy.”
