Banijay Entertainment, a prominent player in the media industry, has announced a partnership with TheGreenShot, a Belgian greentech firm, to enhance its carbon data reporting capabilities. This collaboration aims to streamline carbon reporting across Banijay’s extensive operations, which span 25 territories and include over 130 creative labels.
The initiative comes as part of Banijay’s commitment to align with the Paris Agreement’s sustainability goals. Edouard Minc, the ESG Director at Banijay, emphasized the need for a unified approach to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. He stated that the company is focused on standardizing data collection methods to accurately track and report its carbon emissions, thereby informing a strategic action plan for decarbonization.
To facilitate this, Banijay has selected TheGreenShot’s GreenPro software, which will consolidate greenhouse gas accounting across its global operations. This software will enable the automatic aggregation of carbon data from Banijay’s various creative entities, allowing for detailed emissions reporting at both the group and project levels. The implementation of this system is expected to roll out in phases, with full monitoring of carbon impact anticipated within a year.
Véronique Pevtschin, co-CEO of TheGreenShot, expressed pride in this partnership, highlighting that GreenPro will integrate with Banijay’s financial systems to provide real-time insights into its carbon footprint. This integration is expected to enhance the identification and scaling of sustainable production practices within the company.
The GreenPro software has already demonstrated its capabilities by processing 83,000 documents and 152,000 financial transactions for 177 productions, measuring a total of 43,500 metric tons of CO2 emissions. The partnership with Banijay is poised to significantly broaden the impact and reach of this solution.
As the entertainment industry increasingly faces scrutiny over its environmental footprint, Banijay’s proactive steps towards sustainability may set a precedent for other media companies to follow. The collaboration with TheGreenShot represents a significant move towards integrating sustainability into the core operational strategies of major entertainment entities.
