The project is divided into four 20MW phases, the first of which was grid-connected last month. The second phase has already been constructed and is expected to be fully commissioned in the coming weeks. The company aims to complete the remaining two phases this year.

“A project of this magnitude marks a turning point in the development of solar power in Europe and should confirm Ukraine’s position as an upcoming renewable energy provider”, says Kaveh Ertefai, CEO of Activ Solar. Mr. Ertefai is especially proud of the speed of construction. “Drawing on the experience of our latest projects, we are now able to install around 1MW each day, which is remarkable, especially in an emerging solar market like Ukraine,” the CEO emphasizes.

Activ Solar’s projects bring major benefits to the local community, especially since Crimea relies entirely on energy imports from the mainland and nuclear power plants. Upon completion of the 80MW installation, the solar power plant will consist of approximately 360,000 modules, ground-mounted over an area of 160 hectares, approximately the size of 207 football fields. The plant is estimated to produce 100,000 megawatt hours of electricity per annum – enough to supply 20,000 households with green energy, representing savings of up to 80,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
