Erex held a groundbreaking ceremony for its biomass plants in Yen Bai and Tuyen Quang, Vietnam, on October 4. These plants have been designated as priority projects under Vietnam’s 8th National Power Development Plan, with their implementation receiving approval in April. Each facility will have a generation capacity of 50 MW and will utilize approximately 500,000 tons of wood residue annually, sourced from Northern Vietnam. The plants are expected to begin operations by mid-2027. Erex also plans to develop a total of 18 new biomass plants in the country, with construction costs estimated between $100 million and $120 million for each facility.
Mr. Kakuta, representative director and president of Erex International, stated, “This power plant is the first biomass power plant for PDP8. We aim to contribute to the local community through this initiative and are committed to diligently working toward its completion.”
