Vestas has inaugurated new production lines to make 115.5-metre blades for its V236-15.0MW offshore wind turbines in Italy.
It inaugurated the production lines at its factory in Taranto in the south of the country last week (4 November).
The Danish manufacturer has operated the factory in Taranto since 1998, and has produced blades for its 2MW and 4MW onshore turbines there.
It has increased the plant’s workforce in the past year, with headcount rising from about 700 to more than 1,600 employees. Vestas expects to reach 2,000 employees in the coming months as it looks to support an increase in production.
