The firm was up against companies from all sectors across the UK, Middle East, India and Hong Kong. But Hutchinson was one of just 125 to achieve the maximum score.

It will celebrate its prestigious accolade during a ceremony and banquet at London’s Grosvenor House in Park Lane on May 18.

Tony Murphy, safety advisor at Hutchinson Engineering, a global market leader in the design and manufacture of steel structures for the telecoms and wind turbine sectors, said: “We have secured this international award with distinction by gaining highest marks for health, safety and environmental management.

“These are three areas where we obviously shine – and so it has been a rewarding experience to benchmark our performance, demonstrate continuous improvement, and gain external recognition.

“But we are continually looking for areas where we can get even better as we strive to be the best when it comes to high standards of safety.”

Added Dean Drinkwater, Managing Director: “As a company we are committed to doing everything in our power to reduce the risk for our workforce whilst ensuring an efficient production line for our customers in the wind turbine and telecoms industries.

“I’m pleased that Hutchinson’s 30-year rich safety history has been recognised with this international award.”

Hutchinson Engineering will be presented with it award before an audience of peers and VIPs.

Alex Botha, chief executive of the British Safety Council, sent her warmest congratulations to all 550 companies that achieved a distinction, merit or pass.

She said: “Over the last year I have had the opportunity to meet with the managers and employees of a number of the winning organisations and have been struck by the commitment and dedication they have shown to managing health safety in a proportionate, sensible and effective manner.

“What the winners have demonstrated is that well-managed health and safety ensures the safety and wellbeing of their employees, contributes to business effectiveness and success. The health and safety of employees is non-negotiable and the winners have shown their determination, like us, to ensure that no one is killed, injured or made ill by work activities.”
