More power, simpler systems and larger power plants
To kick off on Wednesday, the finalists of the Intersolar Award 2013 present their nominated photovoltaic solutions, which range from systems to optimize the performance of existing solar power plants, through to integrated storage systems for the “smart home” and storage for large-scale PV systems. The solar thermal systems manufacturers participating in the award explain, for example, plug-and-play systems that allow operators to keep existing heating components. The presentations also cover compact and extremely lightweight solar heating storage collectors designed for roofs, balconies, patios, camping and holiday homes. In addition, experts report on how to boost the performance of solar thermal power plants, e.g. through using dish systems.
Visitors can then find out about major projects, including the Templin Solar Park with its 1.5 million thin-film modules and 128 MW capacity, or the 145 MW PV power plant at the Neuhardenberg airfield. Visitors and finalists alike are kept in suspense until 4:30pm when this year’s awards are presented.
International projects and plant monitoring systems take center stage on June 20
The Innovation Exchange program on Thursday includes PV projects in Eastern Europe, a solar thermal power plant with Fresnel collectors in Italy and an off-grid solar power plant in England. The afternoon is devoted to new possibilities for monitoring PV plants with advanced data loggers, drones or multicopters, as well carrying out thermal inspections of photovoltaic plants.
New developments in industry and politics
At 12:00pm, the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) discusses current political developments. From 3:00pm, the International Battery and Energy Storage Alliance (IBESA) introduces itself, followed by the global networking initiative Joint Forces for Solar reporting on its activities from 4:00pm. Solar power storage systems and associated state incentives form the focus of the presentations on Friday morning. A highlight of the Innovation Exchange is a presentation entitled „Globale Abkühlung ist möglich – Mit 100% Erneuerbaren Energien und einer CO2 Reinigung der Atmosphäre“ (in German) and the subsequent discussion with the Green Party MP Hans-Josef Fell, one of the “fathers” of the Renewable Energy Sources Act, which takes place on Friday at 1:00pm.
