Sitec Infrastructure Services, the Cambridge based service provider to the telecoms and renewable energy infrastructure markets, has struck a deal with wind turbine manufacturer, Evance, to become an approved installer and distributor.

It’s a deal that follows hard on the heels of tie ins with wind turbine maker’s, QuietRevolution and Evoco as well as affiliations with solar PV system providers, and gives Sitec an impressive portfolio of partners across the renewable energy sector.

The company is already a regional leader in the delivery of sustainable infrastructure networks and, according to Director, Chris Evans, the alliance with Evance fills a gap in Sitec’s armoury of turbines.

“Although we act as a distributor for a number of mid-sized vertical and horizontal wind turbines, at ratings of 5kW and 10kW, Evance offers us a horizontal 5kW option, which is the first MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accredited small wind turbine in the UK.

“The company’s R9000 system is designed to work well both in low and high winds and has been manufactured to run continuously, even in the toughest conditions.

Evance recently installed turbines on the Orkney Islands and received accreditation in Denmark. Its R9000 turbine requires minimal maintenance. It has no gearbox and a minimum design life of 20 years. It’s also aesthetically pleasing, which is a distinct advantage when it comes to obtaining planning permission.

“The turbine’s ability to run continuously maximises the kilowatt hours of energy produced and so gives a great return on any investment”, adds Chris. “Not only do users reduce energy costs and their carbon footprint, but they can also receive an income for generating renewable energy and exporting power to the national grid through government backed Feed-in Tariffs.

“Figures suggest that this cost saving and tariff income could add up to more than £4000 per year.

“Wind power is proving a very popular choice for those wanting to switch to renewable sources of energy. The UK has 40 per cent of Europe’s total wind energy and is the ideal location for wind farms and turbines.

“Renewables is the fastest growing sector of our business. With the continued pressure on everyone to be greener, and Sitec’s leading position in the market, I fully expect that growth to continue.”
