SHEC’s solar thermal plants have the advantage of using proven steam turbine technology that has been used in the power industry for decades.
SHEC Energy has entered into a global agreement with Emerson Process Management, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), to help bring online new solar thermal facilities for power generation. A leader among Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) producers, SHEC’s solar thermal plants have the advantage of using proven steam turbine technology that has been used in the power industry for decades.
“Working with Emerson Process Management, one of the world’s leading process automation companies, is a key element in our strategy to operate the highest efficiency, lowest cost plants in the renewable energy industry.”
SHEC Energy selected Emerson’s advanced automation services to maximize the efficiency and reliability of its planned renewable energy projects globally and to help SHEC bring the cost of solar power in line with conventional sources of electricity.
“Our goal is to provide the lowest cost renewable energy anywhere in the world,” said Tom Beck, SHEC Energy CEO. “Working with Emerson Process Management, one of the world’s leading process automation companies, is a key element in our strategy to operate the highest efficiency, lowest cost plants in the renewable energy industry.”
SHEC technology allows it to produce solar power at costs approaching those of traditional, fossil fuel-based technologies. SHEC’s technology can produce alternative fuels such as hydrogen, as well as heating for industrial applications.
Emerson brings extensive experience in not only the alternative energy industry but also the traditional power industry. Emerson has committed significant resources to help alternative energy companies translate their technologies into large-scale commercial production of eco-friendly fuels. In addition to SHEC Energy, Emerson is working with nearly a dozen other alternative energy companies. With decades of experience in the power industry, Emerson’s plant automation and control technologies support 600 gigawatts of the world’s power-generation capacity.
“Emerson and its suite of digital automation products and services will help SHEC realize lower project risk, better cost control, and high reliability,” said Steve Sonnenberg, president, Emerson Process Management. “Emerson’s technologies combined with SHEC Energy’s inherent patented technology advantages positions SHEC for sustainable growth in the solar power generation industry.”

About SHEC Energy Corporation
SHEC Energy was formed in 1996 with the mandate of producing hydrogen renewably and cost competitively with fossil fuels. This technology has been adopted for solar thermal power generation. SHEC Energy’s hydrogen history has provided a technological lead for power generation since high efficiency, high temperature solar technology was developed for the process. SHEC Energy has developed advanced, highly efficient solar technologies and manufacturing technologies to achieve this goal. Solar energy is the logical renewable source because it is abundant with about 6,000 times more energy bombarding the Earth than all of humanity’s energy requirements. It also has a lifespan of billions of years. SHEC Energy’s technology is not only applicable for power generation, but can also co-generate hot water, chilled water, and desalinated water simultaneously with little additional cost. The technology can also be applied to thermal chemical processes such as alternative fuel production. SHEC Energy’s CSP technology can be applied to power generation in the range of 25 kilowatts to the gigawatt range. For more information, visit www.SHECenergy.com.
