York, UK – 6 March, 2012 – Phono Solar, one of the world’s largest producers of quality monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar modules, today announced that its modules have passed TÜV Rheinland’s ammonia corrosion test, and have therefore received IEC 62716 standard certification.
“Passing the ammonia resistance test not only indicates that Phono Solar’s modules have once again obtained the approval of international certification authorities, but also ensures that modules can be installed in even the harshest environments, and will continue to meet customers’ high expectations,” said Mariana Hall, Vice President of Phono Technologies, Europe.
Photovoltaic panels installed on farms close to livestock ventilation systems are susceptible to corrosion from high concentrations of ammonia. The tests confirm the modules’ quality and reliability, ensuring installations are possible across farms in the UK. This certification joins the already achieved salt mist corrosion certification IEC 61701 and fire test certificate.
