ARLINGTON, VA

Pepco Energy Services, Inc., (“Pepco Energy”) a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM) and a leader in energy savings performance contracting, is currently implementing the final phase of its $77 million energy savings performance contract for Prince George’s County Public Schools, which was first awarded in 2007. This fourth phase will produce $34.9 million in energy infrastructure improvements for 103 school facilities, generating approximately $3.4 million in energy savings per year.

“Prince George’s County Public Schools is proud to have developed this project with Pepco Energy, and we are excited to mark the implementation of the final phase of the project,” said Dr. William R. Hite, Jr., Superintendent of Schools. “We look forward to many years of providing an energy-efficient environment for our students and employees.”

This final project phase will continue to allow Pepco Energy to help provide Prince George’s County Public Schools with greater cost and energy savings through lighting upgrades, building automation controls systems and integrated energy management solutions, which will result in a better learning and work environment for students and employees.

Additional energy conservation measures include the installation of energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, steam trap replacements, energy-efficient transformers, domestic hot water systems and a photovoltaic solar project.

The overall project, including the fourth phase, will increase the school system’s energy savings to approximately $6.4 million each year, as well as reduce total energy and water usage by approximately 20 percent and 30 percent each year, respectively.

“Pepco Energy is pleased to continue our partnership with Prince George’s County Public Schools,” said John Huffman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pepco Energy. “This additional project phase reaffirms their commitment to energy-efficient, green practices and establishes the school system as a leading example of environmental stewardship.”

This fourth phase will reduce annual emissions by close to 14,800 metric tons, increasing the school system’s total emissions reductions to nearly 20,300 metric tons per year.

The overall project will be completed in 2012.
