IBEW 697 along with other northwest Indiana trade associations worked together to install the first photovoltaic array in the area. Photovoltaic apprenticeship instructor Tracy Hall obtained grant monies to make this possible, engineered the photovoltaic system, and got volunteer labor from his apprentices – a win-win situation for the city of Merrillville and all involved.
