KGAL GmbH & Co. KG has announced a significant milestone for its Project Endor, located in Vordingborg, Denmark, by securing a long-term offtake agreement with energy company Uniper. This agreement, which was formalised on 25 September 2026, will see Uniper purchase 40,000 tonnes of sustainable synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF) annually over a period exceeding ten years. This volume represents half of the project’s planned annual production, making it one of the largest eSAF offtake agreements announced in Europe to date.
Details of the Agreement
The deliveries under this agreement are expected to commence in the early 2030s, coinciding with the commencement of commercial operations at the production facility. The annual fuel volume secured through this contract is estimated to meet the fuel requirements for approximately 1,000 flights of a Boeing 787-9 operating between Düsseldorf and Abu Dhabi.
Significance of the Agreement
Thomas Engelmann, Head of Energy Transition at KGAL Investment Management, highlighted the importance of this agreement, stating, “This is a significant milestone for Project Endor and one of the first of its kind for eSAF in Europe. The agreement with Uniper brings the project a significant step closer to achieving financial closure.” The long-term offtake arrangement is seen as a crucial factor in providing the investment security necessary for the project’s advancement.
Project Endor’s Production Capacity
Project Endor aims to produce up to 80,000 tonnes, or approximately 100 million litres, of eSAF annually. The production process will utilise renewable electricity, locally generated green hydrogen, and captured carbon dioxide as feedstocks. This innovative fuel has the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 98% over its entire lifecycle compared to conventional kerosene. Furthermore, the eSAF produced will comply with the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation regulation and the criteria for renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO).
Partnership with Uniper
Amy Hebert, CEO of Arcadia eFuels, the company behind Project Endor, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Uniper, stating, “With Uniper, Endor gains an experienced energy partner and a long-term customer. This agreement validates our concept and brings us significantly closer to industrial-scale production. Europe requires additional eSAF capacities, and together with Uniper, we are establishing a concrete foundation for this.”
Progress in Project Development
The offtake agreement follows several key developments in the project’s progression. In 2025, Arcadia eFuels received environmental approval for the facility and signed a funding agreement from the EU Innovation Fund in March 2026. The long-term offtake contract now strengthens the commercial basis for financing, construction, and commissioning of the project.
KGAL’s Role in the Project

This Article 9 SFDR fund targets institutional investors and invests in energy transition initiatives across the European Union and the United Kingdom. KGAL itself is a prominent independent investment and asset manager, overseeing an investment volume exceeding €15 billion, with a focus on long-term real capital investments in real estate, sustainable infrastructure, and aviation.
