“Never
before has Intersolar had more exhibitors, more visitors, more media
representatives and more different nations represented”, said Markus
Elsässer, Managing Director of Solar Promotion GmbH, one of the two
organisers of Intersolar. “Given the difficult economic situation, we
are especially pleased that Intersolar 2009 has turned out so
successful. The response has been truly overwhelming”.
Klaus
W. Seilnacht, CEO of Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH &
Co. KG, and co-organiser of Intersolar, was equally satisfied with
attendance figures: “Following on from the extremely successful opening
in
in 2008, we are pleased to see such a significant year-on-year increase
in levels of interest among exhibitors and visitors. This growth in
international attendance, size, number of exhibitors and visitors gives
us plenty of cause for optimism.”
Satisfaction all round
In
view of the large number of international visitors and innovations
exhibited, and the 37% increase in exhibition space, visitors and
exhibitors alike were more than satisfied with Intersolar 2009. “We
have exhibited at Intersolar right from the very beginning. We are very
pleased with the large numbers of high-calibre visitors the show is
able to attract,” says one exhibitor, Rudolf Pfeil, CEO of RESOL –
Elektronische Regelungen GmbH.
The
partners of the trade show have also been pleased with the way the
event as gone. Heinz Kundert, President of the SEMI Europe PV Group,
described how, “You can feel that the interest in PV is extremely high
and exhibitors are pleased.”
The Intersolar AWARD 2009
For
the second year running, the organisers in conjunction with the German
Solar Industry Association (BSW Solar) presented the Intersolar AWARD,
which is announced annually by an independent jury in the categories of
‘photovoltaics’ and ‘solar thermal technology’ for pioneering products
and services in the industry. Awards are given in recognition of
innovative, groundbreaking products and services in PV and solar
thermal technology. This year’s Intersolar AWARD was also supported by
the German Minister of Economics and Technology, Dr. Karl-Theodor
Freiherr zu Guttenberg, who, as patron of the award, underlined the
importance of innovative companies for the future of the international
solar industry.
“The
large number of high-quality entries made it particularly difficult for
the jury to select this year’s most innovative products and services.
The high quality of the entries clearly demonstrates that the solar
industry continues to be one of the most important drivers of
international innovation. The large number of innovations as well as
the general success of the trade show underline the status of
Intersolar as the industry’s number one international marketplace. In
addition to the AWARD winners, many other companies have also presented
innovations at Intersolar this year,” commented Carsten Körnig, CEO of
the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar).
Aerowest
GmbH, National Semiconductor Corp. and SOLON SE most impressed the jury
with their entries in the PV category, while the AWARD in the solar
thermal technology category went to NEP Solar Pty Ltd, RESOL –
Elektronische Regelungen GmbH and Ritter Energie- und Umwelttechnik
GmbH & Co. KG. As the winners were announced on the first day of
Intersolar, they were able to benefit from a high degree of visitor and
media interest throughout the show.
