Growth in PV demand will be in China, the US and Japan
The general cost of PV power generation is coming down while the global demand for renewable power is on the rise, and consequently grid-parity is likely to be attained in 2013-2015, according to chairman MK Lu for Taiwan-based silicon wafer maker Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS).
Over the next 10 years, relatively large growth in PV demand will be in China, the US and Japan, Lu indicated.
SAS will expand its annual production capacity of solar-grade silicon wafers by an equivalent of 100MWp in the first and second quarters to reach a total of 600MWp in mid-2010, Lu pointed out.
