The solar system on the rooftop of Audi AG was sold for 4.6 million to the closed-end PT Energiefonds Neckarsulm GmbH & Co. KG fund.

Dornach near Munich. In December 2010, Gehrlicher Solar AG sold its solar system on the rooftop of the Audi AG car parks. The solar power plant with a peak performance of 1.9 MW at the Audi site in Neckarsulm was sold for 4.65 million euros to the fund initiator, PT Erneuerbare Energien GmbH.

Steffen Licht, Head of the Rooftop Business Unit at Gehrlicher Solar AG, is happy about the successful transaction: ”These type of projects show the large, yet unexplored, potential rooftop systems offer in Germany. In the meantime, we can also reach the megawatt range regularly. The cooperation both with Audi AG and PT Erneuerbare Energien GmbH was very satisfying.“

Also Andreas Schießer, authorized agent and sales director at PT Erneuerbare Energien GmbH, underlined the growing importance of sustainable investments: “Sustainable investments are still en vogue, this also applies for fund structuring and direct investments. We are proud to be able to offer the capital market a clear, structured and profitable investment that will gain additional prestige by having Audi AG as lessor. Gehrlicher Solar AG has proved to be a well-known, experienced and reliable partner. We are confident we will continue to realize joint projects in the future.“

Audi AG made available approximately 27.000 square meters of rooftop areas for the solar power plant. 10,700 modules manufactured by Sunowe now produce about 1.8 million kilowatt hours of direct current per year. These are transformed by 62 Kaco inverters into alternating current which can then be fed into the pubic grid. The substructure used was gehrtec FLAT, which was specially designed by Gehrlicher solar AG for use on flat roofs. The amount of power produced covers the demand of 418 four-person households; CO2 savings amount to some 1,040 tons per year. The system was connected to the grid in September 2010.
