New design announced at the Yokohama renewable Energy International Exhibition 2010.
The Wind Lens is a new design for offshore wind turbines , turbines that would not only be quieter than traditional models but would also be three times as efficient.
The layout of the Wind Lens is a series of interlocking “hoops” with turbines on the edges. The turbines focus the wind into the center of each hoop, increasing the amount of energy generated.
The floating farms could appear off the coast of Japan in the next couple of years.
