The multinational company Colas inaugurate the first mid-temperature solar thermal plant to heat the asphalt bitumen with SRB Energy UHV solar collectors.
The very well known French multinational of the bitumen, COLAS, has just started at Geneva the first mid temperature solar thermal plant that integrates the solar technology of the Swiss and Spanish company SRB Energy. The solar plant will heat the bitumen depots part of the process, to reduce the gas consumption used for heating.
It is a unique system that will work on the range of temperatures from 165°C to 180°C, which no other solar technology can reach for this kind of application. Among the main advantages it can be highlighted the high performance, and that it can also capture the diffuse light which makes possible its use at Central Europe locations.
