The total amount of electricity generated by renewable energy sources in the United States will grow 1.8% this year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates in a July 7 Short-Term Energy Outlook. According to EIA projections, nonhydropower renewable power generation will increase by 5.5% in 2015, while hydropower will decrease 2% in that period due to the effects of the California drought.
