The first turbine of the Dai Ninh Hydro-electric Power Plant in the central province of Binh Thuan, officially became operational on January 17, generating electricity for the national grid
The plant is located in Phan Lam commune, Bac Binh district. The turbine has a design capacity of 150MW.
Earlier, from November 28, 2007 to January 16, 2008, the turbine was already put into operation on a trial basis, generating 1.4 million kwh to the national grid.
The second turbine is scheduled to be put on a trial run later this month and will officially join the national electricity grid by March.
The Dai Ninh Hydro-electricity Power Plant is built on the Dong Nai river. Construction started in May 2003. The plant is designed to have two turbines with a total capacity of 300 MW, generating an average of 1.2 billion kwh annually. Total cost for the project is put at US $440 million.
