My claim to fame on the renewables front is that I co-founded All-Energy, now the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy exhibition and conference. It was acquired by RX Global in 2011 and I am retained as a consultant creating the 600+/- speaker conference; as an ambassador for the show; and also handling PR for it. I was awarded MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2014; and became a Fellow the Society of Underwater Technology that same year and was its President in 2021-2022. Back in 2012 I was awarded the Scottish Green Energy ‘Outstanding Contribution’ Award. In addition to my stimulating and exciting role as Project Director of All-Energy, I also run a PR company, something I have done (scarily!) for over 50 years. My clients are all unique and so are their marketing requirements. Once I understand the end goal, I provide a range of marketing solutions to achieve those objectives In addition to All-Energy my clients include the Fugro Group; IMCA - the International Marine Contractors Association; and ad hoc work for a number of organisations.
Fugro has been awarded a site characterisation contract for a wind farm development off the coast of the Japanese cities of Murakami and Tainai, Niigate Prefecture, Japan
Fugro has transferred their self-elevating platform (SEP) Amberjack to Japan to meet the country’s growing demand for offshore wind geotechnical services.
The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has today published the industry’s first standard contract for transport and installation (T&I) works in offshore wind projects. The contract has been written to ensure a fairer allocation of risk.
Fugro is pleased to announce it has reached a binding agreement for the acquisition of the remaining shares in SEA-KIT International, a long-standing partner in the development of hi-tech uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) for low carbon emission maritime operations and research.
Ignitis Renewables, an international green energy company, has awarded Fugro a contract to conduct a geophysical survey at Lithuania’s first offshore wind farm site. This critical step in the project’s development aims to enhance the understanding of seabed conditions, which will inform the location, construction and design of future wind turbines at the Baltic Sea.
All-Energy and the co-located Dcarbonise held at Glasgow’s SEC on 10 and 11 May broke all previous records with total attendance of 9,706 – a 27% increase on the 2022 figure. “It was a fantastic two days we knew that registrations had broken all records in advance of the show, but finding out the total attendance was a fantastic moment. The exhibition halls were constantly busy, with the buzz of business being done and successful networking’ that has always been the hallmark of All-Energy, the UK’s largest renewable and low carbon energy and conference,” explained Jonathan Heastie, Portfolio Director, Energy &…
Germany’s Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency, the Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (BSH), has awarded Fugro a geophysical survey contract for two offshore wind farm sites in the German exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the North Sea. Working in collaboration with Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES), Fugro’s Geo-data will be integrated with its ultra high resolution multichannel seismic data (UHR MCS) and used by BSH to develop geological models of the offshore sites and support subsequent geotechnical investigations. The project is due to start this week, with Fugro mobilising a dedicated survey vessel to perform high-precision positioning, sub-bottom profiling…
The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) campaign on sustainable contracting in offshore wind has been recognised by the UK’s first Offshore Wind Champion, and previous co-chair of the Offshore Wind Acceleration Taskforce (May 2022 to March 2023), Tim Pick. Tim Pick was commissioned by the UK Government to explore the challenges for offshore wind and published his independent report, Seizing our Opportunities, at the beginning of April. It highlighted that contracting terms in oil and gas are generally more commercially balanced than in offshore wind, noting that: “IMCA’s Renewables Contracting Principles is a helpful piece of thought leadership on this topic.” One…
Geo-data specialist Fugro has been awarded a contract to perform an offshore geotechnical site investigation for Australia’s offshore wind project Star of the South (SOTS), located off the coast of Gippsland southeast of Australia.
In just 10 days’ time Glasgow’s SEC will be abuzz with renewable and low carbon energy experts from home and overseas at the annual All-Energy and co-located Dcarbonise exhibition and conference. The Rt Hon Humza Yousaf MSP, First Minister of Scotland, will be speaking in the opening plenary session on Wednesday 10 May and four of his Ministers will also be taking part in relevant sessions during the two-day event.
