Atomenergomash is planning to launch two wind power projects: manufacturing of wind turbines and construction of wind farms.
Moscow – OJSC Atomenergomash (AEM), the machine-building division of State Atomic Energy Corporation «Rosatom», one of the leading power engineering companies in Russia, today has announced its strategic plans to enter the wind power market. This was announced by the General director Vladimir Kashchenko during the 2nd National Conference of the Russian Wind Power Association (RWPA). Atomenergomash is planning to launch two wind power projects: manufacturing of wind turbines and construction of wind farms.
“Alternative energy is the most significant transformation, determining the development of energy technologies for the next decade. Today in the world there are more than 100 projects with a total capacity of over 100 GW. The aggregated investment is expected to exceed 280 billion dollars “, – said Vladimir Kashchenko.
Production of the wind turbines will be organized at the production facilities of Atomenergomash, primarily at «Petrozavodskmash». Production process will be organized in 2012 in cooperation with аn international technological partner. Produced wind turbines will be supplied to the Russian and international wind farms.
Atomenergomash’s development project aimed at construction of wind farms will be implemented in Russia and abroad. 9 Russian regions have already expressed an interest in participating in the project. Atomenergomash is also discussing with OJSC «Rosenergoatom» the possibility of constructing wind farms near seven nuclear power plants operating in Russia.
As part of its strategy Atomenergomash is planning to target foreign development wind farms markets, particularly Eastern Europe, Middle East and Asia, vital markets for «Rosatom». Currently the company is analyzing the possibilities and perspectives of commercializing development projects in overseas markets. In order to ensure rapid access to international markets Atomenergomash plans to acquire an international development company.
“The strategic goal of Atomenergomash – by 2020 to become a global player in wind power market with significant positions in Russia and abroad”, – said Vladimir Kashchenko.
