The electricity generated will be sold to California utilities under the state’s Power Purchase Agreement for Small Renewable Generation “Feed-in Tariffs” Program
SAN FRANCISCO (US)
Aide Solar (http://www.aidesolar.com/) a large-scale producer of photovoltaic modules and a subsidiary of the Panjit Group, has announced that it will be working with Folium Energy as the solar module supplier for a 150MW solar power project for California utilities under the state’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Small Renewable Generation “Feed-in Tariffs” program. The distributed generation guidelines stipulate that each site generate a minimum of 100KW but not exceed 1.5MW of solar power.
Folium’s plans involve a portfolio of ground mount installations at 710 different solar distributed generation sites located in 35 different counties throughout California. Distributed generation is a popular method of producing electricity with small efficient power plants located at or near manufacturing facilities, universities, hospitals or communities. Installations will begin in Q4 of 2011 and is projected to be completed in one year.
“The projects will be broken into phases based on the pre-construction development work required at each site,” said Brad Stutzman, vice president, Operations, Folium Energy. “The first phase of the project will total 15MW of power with development activities beginning immediately.”
Folium Energy is an independent power producer, PPA, and late stage developer whose focus is in renewable energy. The company specializes in developing, financing, constructing, owning and operating solar and wind energy production facilities. Facilities range from small distributed generation to utility scale projects located across North America.
“Our agreement with Folium Energy for this distributed generation project in California is a big first step in establishing a long term relationship,” said Raymond C. Wiley, director, Aide Solar, U.S.A. “We are discussing a pipeline of solar projects throughout the U.S. as well as a wind project which involves our storage technology.”
Representatives from Aide Solar and Folium Energy will be in attendance at Intersolar America, Moscone Center, San Francisco, July 12-14, 2011. Intersolar is the most diverse international business-to-business trade show in the United States for the global solar industry.
