Acciona Energía has expanded its presence in the US renewables market with the acquisition of two 150MW wind farms in Texas.
The company has paid $202.5 million for the Green Pastures I and Green Pastures II wind farms from Capital Dynamics.
Both wind farms are located in Baylor county in northern Texas and have been in commercial operation since 2015.
According to Acciona, the two wind farms generate 1.1TWh of electricity annually. This is supplied to the grid run by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (Ercot).
The deal will increase Acciona’s portfolio of renewables in North America to over 3GW “and reinforce the company’s position as a key player in the US energy transition”, the company claimed.
