Fulfilling the legal obligation of operators to use ethanol in gasoline.
- For the first time in Spain will be made direct blends of gasoline and bioethanol, in the landings of Hydrocarbon Logistics Company (HLC).
- The biofuel supplied by Abengoa Bioenergy will be used for direct blending with gasoline.
Abengoa Bioenergy has signed oil contracts with operators Cepsa and BP Oil Spain for the supply of bioethanol. The biofuel provided will be used for direct blending with gasoline, thus fulfilling the legal obligation of operators to use ethanol in gasoline.
In 2010, the minimum requirement for use of bioethanol is 3.9 percent (percentage expressed in terms of energy content) of petrol which places the operator in the Spanish market this year, a percentage in 2009 was 2.5 percent. To fulfill the obligation has been used, mainly, “Ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE) domestic and imported, a gasoline additive that is produced by reaction of ethanol and isobutylene, which is obtained in the process refining.
In addition, for the first time in Spain, there will be mixtures of gasoline and bioethanol in the landings of Hydrocarbon Logistics Company (HLC). To do this, CLH has made the necessary investments in its distribution and storage centers, and so storing it and making mixes for loading arms tanker trucks then transport them to service stations and supply centers Direct fleets. The five schools selected are located near areas of increased consumption, within the area covered by CLH.
