The event opens at 10:00am on December 13, 2011.
The organizers are particularly excited at the prospect of hosting well-known panelists for the opening panel discussion: Gireesh B. Pradhan, Secretary at the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) in New Delhi and Debashish Majumdar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA) in New Delhi are invited to be the keynote speakers, with Dr. Martin Schöpe, a senior government official at the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety in Berlin already confirmed to deliver his keynote speech at the opening event.
An up-and-coming market with huge potential
The Indian solar market has experienced exceptionally dynamic growth since the Indian government launched the National Solar Mission in 2010. On December 13, the session India’s PV Market examines the current status of the government’s solar policy, while also examining opportunities for a strategic geographical approach to tapping India’s solar power using photovoltaic installations.
The rapid growth of the industry coupled with India’s climate present unique challenges to manufacturers, project developers, plant operators and installation engineers. The Project Development session on December 14 presents project development solutions, shedding light on the potential of photovoltaics for off-grid power supply and detailing the technological framework needed to optimize energy yields.
Taking place at the same time, the Quality Issues – Construction and Project Management session focuses on quality assurance, plant safety and system planning, taking into account the conditions offered by the Indian climate.
Solar power on a grand scale
The National Solar Mission aims to make solar power available to as much of India’s population as possible, and fast. The government, and in turn the solar industry, is therefore keen to build an extensive fleet of photovoltaic plants. On December 14, the Large-Scale PV Systems session provides comprehensive insight into this topic, covering all areas of project management from planning and procurement logistics to plant construction and monitoring.
Other sessions on Crystalline Silicon, Thin Film, Balance of Systems (BOS) and Ground Mounted PV Projects Reducing Risk complete the Intersolar India Conference, offering comprehensive information and various discussion forums on most of the latest technologies and solutions in the photovoltaic industry.
The complete solar industry supply chain
Alongside the various sessions dedicated to photovoltaics, the conference also focuses on plant financing, specialist training and the development of markets around the world.
Further discussions at sessions taking place primarily on December 13 and 14 deal with another industry segment: solar thermal technology. Beginning at 2:00pm on December 13, the session India’s Solar Thermal Market provides an overview of the Indian market and the development opportunities within it. This is followed by the Solar Thermal Applications sessions where attendees can find out everything they need to know about the development of solar thermal technology. Additional sessions on solar thermal technology on December 14 as well as the CEO Panel Discussion with Solar Water Heater Manufacturers on December 15 bring the topic to a powerful close.
Intersolar India 2011 takes place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from December 14–16.
