At the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), held at the Japan Pavilion, Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. was among 32 private companies that collectively issued a significant joint statement addressing climate change, sustainable agri-food systems, and development. This initiative is part of the MIDORI Decarbonization Overseas Deployment Consortium, which aims to promote decarbonization projects aligned with Japan’s agricultural policies.
The consortium was formed to support the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ MIDORI∞INFINITY initiative, which focuses on achieving net-zero emissions while ensuring food security through the international deployment of innovative Japanese technologies. This approach not only seeks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining food security in a changing climate.
As of late October 2025, the consortium has expanded to include 109 companies and organizations, reflecting a growing commitment within the private sector to address climate challenges. The joint statement made at COP30 outlines the consortium’s objectives and the critical role that sustainable practices in agriculture can play in mitigating climate change.
The collaboration among these companies highlights the increasing recognition of the need for coordinated efforts to tackle environmental issues, particularly in the agricultural sector, which is both a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and a vital component of global food systems. The statement serves as a call to action for further innovation and cooperation in developing solutions that can lead to a more sustainable future.
