Terms and Conditions

These terms cover your use of World of Renewables and any WoREA membership you hold. Please read them before you join.

About these terms

World of Renewables is run by The World Renewable Energy Association (WoREA) (“WoREA”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a membership association owned by its members and executives. Our postal address is 31 Larcombe Road, Boscoppa, St Ives, Cornwall PL25 3EZ, United Kingdom.

By using the website or creating an account you agree to these terms. If you join a paid plan you also agree to the membership terms in sections 4 to 9. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain how we handle personal information and cookies.

1. Your account

• You must be 18 or over to create an account.
• Give accurate details and keep them up to date. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity on your account.
• Accounts are personal. On Corporate and Partner plans, each team member uses their own account.
• Tell us straight away at memberships@worldofrenewables.com if you think someone else has used your account.

2. Using the website

You may use the website for your own professional and personal use. You must not:

• break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
• post anything false, misleading, defamatory, offensive or that you do not have the right to share;
• copy, scrape or harvest content or member information in bulk, or use automated tools to access the website, without our written permission;
• send spam, impersonate others or try to get around security or access restrictions;
• upload viruses or anything that could harm the website or other users.

3. Content you add

Members can add and manage content such as company listings, projects, events, jobs, products, opportunities, press releases and reviews. When you do:

• you confirm the content is accurate, that you have the right to publish it and, for a business listing, that you are authorised to act for that business;
• you keep ownership of your content and give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, publish, adapt for display and promote it on the website, in our newsletters and on our social media channels;
• we may review, edit for format, decline or remove content that breaks these terms or that we reasonably consider unsuitable.

4. Membership plans

• Network Member (free): a free account with My WoREA, saved items, follows, alerts and newsletters. You or we can close a free account at any time.
• Professional and Business: annual paid plans you can join online. What each plan includes is shown on our membership page at the time you join.
• Corporate and Partner: annual plans arranged with our team. Any specific terms agreed in writing (for example team seats, campaigns or advertising) apply alongside these terms and take priority where they differ.

We continually develop the website, so features may change over time. We will not make changes that materially reduce what your paid plan includes during a period you have already paid for.

5. Prices and payment

• Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are shown on our membership page. WoREA is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added to membership fees.
• Payments are taken by card through our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
• Paid plans are billed annually in advance. Your membership starts when payment is confirmed.
• Discount codes and offers are subject to the terms shown with them and can only be used once unless stated otherwise.

6. Renewal and price changes

Paid plans renew automatically each year, and we charge the card used for your membership on the renewal date, until you cancel. If we change the price of your plan, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before the new price applies at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.

7. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your membership account or by emailing memberships@worldofrenewables.com. When you cancel a paid plan it will not renew, and you keep your benefits until the end of the period you have paid for.

8. Refunds and your right to cancel

If you join as a consumer (for purposes outside your trade, business or profession), you have the right to cancel within 14 days of joining. If you cancel within that time we will refund the membership fee, less a proportionate amount for the paid benefits you have used up to the time you told us you were cancelling. To cancel, email memberships@worldofrenewables.com within the 14 days.

If you join for business purposes, the 14-day right does not apply and fees are not refundable once a membership period has started, except where the law requires otherwise or we agree in writing.

Refunds are made to the card you paid with, normally within 14 days.

9. Suspension and closure

We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or to protect the website or other members. Where a paid membership is closed because of a serious breach of these terms, no refund is due. If we close the website or end a paid plan for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of any fees you have paid.

10. Our content

The website, its design and its content (other than content added by members and third parties) belong to WoREA or our licensors. You may read, share links to and print extracts for your own use, but not republish, sell or use our content commercially without our written permission.

11. Information on the website

News, research, market data, project, event and company information is provided for general information. We work to keep it accurate and up to date but cannot guarantee it, and it is not professional, financial, investment, technical or legal advice. Listings, adverts and sponsored content are provided by third parties; we do not endorse their products or services, and you should make your own enquiries before relying on them or entering into any agreement with them.

12. Links and third parties

The website links to other websites and shows adverts. We are not responsible for third-party websites, products or services. Any contract you make with an advertiser, partner or other member is between you and them.

13. Our responsibility to you

• Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
• Consumers: we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses.
• Business members: we are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the membership fees you paid us in that period.
• We aim to keep the website available but do not promise it will always be available or free from errors.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the website, our plans or the law. The latest version is always on this page. If a change materially affects a paid membership, we will tell you by email before it applies.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you have a complaint, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it.
