Chinese manufacturer Envision is in line to supply Saudi developer Acwa Power’s 1.1GW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez in Egypt. Acwa “has selected Envision turbines and is currently undertaking supply chain due diligence”, according to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The EBRD is in turn considering providing a $200 million loan for the wind farm. Acwa is looking to develop the project alongside the EBRD, French investment and asset manager Meridiam and Egypt’s Hassan Allam Utilities. The construction of the operations & maintenance (O&M) base for RWE’s Thor offshore wind farm has officially started with a ground-breaking ceremony at the Port of Thorsminde. The construction works on the new base are scheduled to take around twelve months. A Floating Light Detection and Ranging (FLiDAR) buoy has been deployed at the Parque Nordés offshore wind project site in Spain, which is being developed jointly by BlueFloat Energy, Plenitude, and Sener. A FLiDAR detection buoy was installed in the area where the Parque Nordés floating wind project is expected to be located off the waters of the Galician Ártabra coast. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have partnered to set up a biogas plant at Tirumala, designed to process 40 tonnes of waste per day (TPD). The initiative aims to promote sustainable energy generation and improve waste management efficiency. The foundation stone for the plant was laid by TTD’s Additional Executive Officer, Ch. Nomura has forecast strong growth for India’s power sector, projecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 7% in electricity demand between FY24 and FY27. Norwegian offshore wind developer Vårgrønn has entered into the German offshore market after agreeing to buy a 27.4% stake in the 288MW Baltic 2 project. The company – a joint venture of Italian oil major Eni’s Plenitude subsidiary and Norwegian oil and gas firm HitecVision – will buy the stake in the offshore wind farm from the PGGM Infrastructure Fund.
