Ultrasonic Systems, Inc. (USI), a leading manufacturer of high-performance ultrasonic spray coating equipment for solar, fuel cell, and semiconductor applications, has further increased its installed base in Asia with the recent sale of 20 PV360 coating systems. The PV360 system, featuring USI’s proprietary nozzle-less ultrasonic spray head technology, delivers a precision coating solution, critical to the in-line thermal diffusion step of the production of crystalline solar cells.
This rapidly growing installed base in Asia is a testament to the PV360’s ability to consistently achieve a more uniform, thinner coating application of phosphoric/boric acid, phosphoric oxide, and other proprietary dopants. The PV360 delivers 95-99% coating transfer efficiency and is capable of processing up to 4,300 solar wafers per hour. USI’s photovoltaic coating systems are used for both the in-line thermal diffusion and laser doped selective emitter (LDSE) processes.
“We are very pleased with our growing success with Asian manufacturers, who are embracing technologies that improve the quality, efficiency, throughput, and reliability of their solar cells,” said Stuart Erickson, President of Ultrasonic Systems, “These latest installations reflect the success we have had applying our proven nozzle-less ultrasonic spray technology to meet the demanding requirements of our solar customers.”
