With the need for deployment of at-scale CCS continuing to receive global attention from world leaders, the Global Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Institute will present an update on the status and challenges facing the industry at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi tomorrow.
As part of his involvement in the WFES, Global CCS Institute CEO Nick Otter will chair an industry panel session on ‘CCS Industry in the Making’ where he will outline the urgent need for CCS to be included in the world’s future energy portfolio. He will then be joined by senior representatives from the industry to discuss the financial, technical and regulatory challenges facing the technology’s deployment.
The panel session will include Milton Catelin, CEO, World Coal Institute; Graeme Sweeney, Executive Vice President, CO2, Shell International Petroleum Company Limited; Sam Nader, Director Carbon Management Unit, Masdar; and Jim Carter, Chair, Alberta Carbon Capture & Storage Development Council.
Following the panel session, Nick Otter will be available to delegates from the world’s media to provide an update on the progress of its Project Funding and Support Program through which the organisation will provide approximately AUD $50 million annually for direct support of large-scale CCS projects around the world.
