Q.CELLS, one of the world's leading photovoltaic companies, and GETEC green energy AG from the GETEC group, are working together to construct a 28 Megawatt Peak (MWp) solar power plant in Saxony-Anhalt.
Bitterfeld-Wolfen (Germany), 5 March 2012 – The installation will occupy an approx. 55 hectare site at Amsdorf near Halle, and around 123,000 polycrystalline modules supplied by Q.CELLS will be in place by April of this year. With an output capacity of 28 MWp, the solar park will generate enough electricity to power some 8,000 homes a year, cut annual CO2 emissions by an estimated 15,000 tons and help Saxony-Anhalt enhance its environmental protection profile. The official sod-turning ceremony at the site took place today with Dr. Reiner Haselhoff, the premier of the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
Clemens Jargon, head of product management, sales and marketing at Q.CELLS: “We are delighted that this project enables us to continue our long-lasting partnership with GETEC. The order for the Amsdorf site demonstrates that, even though market conditions remain challenging, Q.CELLS is still a valued business partner and supplier of top-class products and services.”
GETEC AG spent eight months working with Romonta AG to develop the project, and Q.CELLS has been commissioned to construct the power station. Work will start immediately. The site will be managed by GERO, a joint undertaking between GETEC Group and ROMONTA AG. The GERO solar park will feature high-capacity solar modules produced by Q.CELLS, and we will also function as EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) specialist for the solar park. Since its foundation, Q.CELLS has installed solar cells with a combined output of 460 MW, making us one of the top system integration experts in the world. As a source of tailored solutions in the photovoltaics sector, Q.CELLS provides its partners and investors with an extensive range of products and services that extend from site and project development and financing support to professional and on-time installation, operation and maintenance of the power stations during their entire lifespans.
