Optimised interface enables fabricators and manufacturers to source information on PPG’s range of wind turbine coatings whatever their location.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 2 April 2013. PPG Protective and Marine Coatings (PPG) has launched a mobile version of its popular online Wind Power System Selector, enabling users to gather detailed data on coatings for a range of onshore and offshore applications.
The Wind Power System Selector was the first in a range of manuals to be produced by PPG for the power segment and the second release sees a fully mobile version, reflecting customer needs for increased operational flexibility.
The system provides customers with detailed information about PPG coating systems and advises which the company recommends for use under different circumstances. Users can select from a range of locations, performance and environmental criteria and the system will return a set of options, each of which can be drilled into more deeply, providing product specification, required surface treatment and information on the coating system itself.
Ron Van Den Broek, Global Segment Manager – Power, PPG said:
“PPG provides a global 24×7 service but we know that not everyone is awake and working at the same time so we wanted to offer an easy way to access this information. The Wind Power System Selector gives quick access to cascading levels of detail on PPG coating systems for onshore and offshore wind applications. This way, the information is not just available 24/7 but also wherever the customer is.”
In addition to listing the available coating system choices, the selector will also deliver a full Material Safety Data Sheet for each PPG product. The application is designed to assist coating system specifiers as well as users in manufacturing, fabrication and parts production by providing the best available information to support their product choices.
“These days many people are smartphone users and the use of tablets is growing fast. Research firm IDC predicted earlier this year that sales globally could surpass 350 million units by the end of 2017. We have made the interface to the system selector mobile friendly to work across different devices so that when customers are on the road they can retrieve the information they need on the fly” adds Mr Van Den Broek.
The mobile version of the system selector works on any major mobile device platform, providing resized display functionality. The system automatically recognises if the user is connecting from a PC, smartphone or tablet and optimises the view appropriately.
