EWEA, Copenhagen – April 2, 2012 – Power-One, Inc. (Nasdaq:PWER), a leading provider of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, today announced that the company will present its new AURORA UNO-2.0-I-W and UNO-2.5-I-W single phase string inverters and its new AURORA 25kW-WIND-INTERFACE for small wind applications at EWEA at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, from April 16th to 19th. At the show, Power-One will also exhibit several wind inverter systems, including the AURORA PVI-3.0/3.6/4.2-TL-W, the AURORA PVI-5000/6000-TL-W single phase string inverters as well as the AURORA SSWI-10.0-I and AURORA PVI-12.5-TL-W three-phase string inverters to be used in conjunction with the AURORA 25kW-WIND-INTERFACE. Furthermore, the company will showcase its wind interface boxes AURORA 4000/7200-WIND-INTERFACE.
AURORA UNO-2.0-I-W and UNO-2.5-I-W
With the AURORA UNO-2.0-I-W and UNO-2.5-I-W single phase string inverters for wind applications, Power-One offers a new look inverter for small residential wind turbines. Designed with the demands of urban property owners in mind, the new devices have an output of up to 2kW or 2.5kW making them the right choice for small wind applications.
“In the last years, wind energy has not only become safer and more efficient, but also more attractive to both investors and residential property owners,” said Paolo Casini, Vice President, Product Marketing at Power-One. “The improvement of small residential wind turbines and the development of corresponding inverter systems like the AURORA UNO have opened up an interesting new market in Europe: suburban or urban wind installations. The new AURORA UNO is the ideal solution for this market as it can be installed easily and optimizes the energy harvesting in a wide array of operating conditions.”
Packed with Power-One’s proven technology, the redesigned AURORA UNO inverters offer new features, such as a special built-in heat sink compartment and a front panel user interface. Moreover, the AURORA UNO-2.0-I-W and UNO-2.5-I-W feature an efficiency of up to 96.3 percent. A granular, 16 point power curve customization optimizes the energy production for each wind turbine. Designed as a completely sealed unit, the device even withstands the harshest environmental conditions. Both wind inverters are compatible with the AURORA 4000 and 7200 as well as with the 15kW and 25kW Wind Interfaces from Power-One.
AURORA 25kW-WIND-INTERFACE
With this new wind accessory product, Power-One offers more flexibility for small wind applications. The 25kW wind interface is designed to be a smart rectifier: once programmed with the turbine’s power curve, it controls the output of single or multiple inverters allowing scalability for installation. Additionally, the wind interface box offers efficiencies of up to 99.6 percent, provides over-voltage protection and drives both a diversion load and a dumpload braking system.
AURORA PVI-3.0-TL-W, PVI-3.6-TL-W and PVI-4.2-TL-W Power-One’s AURORA PVI-3.0-TL-W, PVI-3.6-TL-W and PVI-4.2-TL-W single phase string inverters combine high efficiencies of up to 96.9 percent with an installer-friendly design and a long service life. Key differentiators are the wide input voltage range and the granular power curve optimization ensuring that power is continuously harvested from the lightest breeze to the strongest wind. Due to the competitive initial acquisition costs, the compact, weather-sealed device increases the return of investment on wind-power installations. A high overload capability ensures that the inverter works up to the power maximum limits under most ambient conditions. Both devices are compatible with Power-One’s wind interface boxes.
AURORA PVI-5000-TL-W and PVI-6000-TL-W
The AURORA PVI-5000-TL-W and the PVI-6000-TL-W are transformerless wind inverters reaching power conversion efficiencies of up to 97.0 percent. A power curve customization with high granularity allows the units to reach a high level of power production yield. Like all of Power-One’s AURORA wind inverters, the devices feature a wide input voltage range as well as optimized real time power curve tracking algorithms maximizing the power harvesting for different wind speeds and forces. Both inverters can be linked to the AURORA 25kW and the 7200 wind interface.
AURORA SSWI-10.0-I and PVI-12.5-TL-W
With power conversion efficiencies of up to 97.1 percent, the grid-tie wind inverters AURORA SSWI-10.0-I and PVI-12.5-TL-W used in conjunction with the AURORA 25kW-WIND-INTERFACE are suitable for small wind applications for up to 50kW. Multiple units can be connected in parallel to this high-frequency isolated three-phase unit. Moreover, the wide input voltage range ensures that the inverters maximize the energy harvesting for a broad array of operating conditions. The units are free of electrolytic capacitors, which increase life expectancy and long term reliability of the product. The wind interface boxes from Power-One are optional accessories.
AURORA 4000 WIND INTERFACE and AURORA 7200 WIND INTERFACE Power-One’s AURORA wind interface boxes are a key accessory for small wind applications. The compact units are designed to work in tandem with a small wind inverter for a grid-connected application. Offering 99.4 percent efficiency, the wind interface box passively rectifies the current produced by the turbine generator to feed the wind inverter. Moreover, the device drives a dumpload braking system including an automatic brake function above 530 Vdc and an activation function of the external brake resistor.
