Phono Solar, one of the world’s largest producers of quality monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon solar modules, today announced that it has received OHSAS 18001 certification for its safety procedures.
Phono Solar continues to build on its safety standards with the implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) which joins the previously achieved ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
OHSAS 18000 is an occupational health and safety management system specification used internationally, adopted by those companies or organisations looking to reduce risk in a working environment. OHSAS 18001 was created as part of a concerted effort by some of the world’s leading national standards bodies, certification bodies and specialist consultancies.
Phono Solar first achieved ISO9001 in 2008 and ISO14001 in 2010, after which, the company looked to further its commitment to employees through the implementation of OHSAS 18001. Phono Solar started to work towards the occupational health and safety management system specification in May of 2011 and in September of the same year, received the expert group’s approval.
Obtaining OHSAS 18001 certification not only demonstrates Phono Solar’s awareness of its social responsibility, but also reinforces its credibility in the eyes of foreign investors.
Mrs. Mariana Hall, Vice President of Phono Solar, said: “Occupational health and safety has been a top priority at Phono Solar ever since the company started. It is important for us to demonstrate that we are continually integrating further safety measures into our business and manufacturing processes.”
