Swedish utility group Vattenfall's Polish subsidiary Vattenfall Heat plans to build a new gas-powered heat and electricity generator at its co-generation plant in Warsaw. The unit should come online by 2020
The new generator will have a thermal output capacity of 250 megawatts and an electric capacity of 400 megawatts.
“Our initial plans assume that the new generator could be online in 2016 at the earliest,” Andrzej RubczyÅ„ski, director for strategy and analysis at Vattenfall Heat, told Dow Jones Newswires on Monday.
The generator will consume between 0.5 and 0.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas every year.
Up to 50 percent of Warsaw’s seven terawatt-hours of annual consumption is provided by Vattenfall Heat’s co-generation plants.
