August 16, 2016
Media Advisory
David Friedman, acting assistant secretary for the Energy Department’s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Office, and Zack Baize, deputy director of the Lab Impact Initiative, will share the 43 businesses selected to participate in round two of EERE’s Small Business Vouchers (SBV) pilot. A call with reporters, editors, and producers will take place on Thursday, August 18, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. (EDT).
EERE officials will unveil details about the latest round of selections for the SBV pilot, a Technology-to-Market Lab Impact program that helps small businesses leverage the world-class capabilities of 11 DOE national laboratories (including NREL) and bring their next-generation clean energy technologies to market faster. The businesses selected will receive more than $8 million in vouchers through this collaborative effort between EERE and the national laboratories.
By increasing small businesses’ access to and awareness of the DOE national laboratory network, SBV creates partnerships that quicken the commercialization of clean energy technologies in nine different technical areas: wind, water, solar, bioenergy, electric vehicles, buildings, fuel cells, geothermal, and advanced manufacturing.
