E.ON Climate & Renewables has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement with San Antonio-based CPS Energy.
CPS Energy will purchase 115.5 MW of electricity and renewable energy credits from E.ON’s Papalote Creek wind farm in San Patricio County, Texas.
The amount purchased will provide enough energy to power around
25,000 homes in the Greater San Antonio area. The 115.5 MW from
Papalote Creek boosts CPS Energy’s renewable energy capacity to 703.7
MW.
Construction of the Papalote Creek wind farm is underway, and the
project is expected to come on line by fall of 2009. E.ON operates six
farms in the U.S., including Roscoe Phase 1 and 2, Forest Creek,
Panther Creek Phase 1 and Sand Bluff in Texas and Munnsville in New
York.
