EDP Renovaveis Brasil has increased its stake in the renewable energy sector in Brazil with the acquisition of 100% of Elebras Projetos, a subsidiary of German company InnoVent Gmbh
The acquisition of Elebrás, for around 6 million reals, relating to project development costs, is in line with the strategy drawn up by the EDP Renováveis group, whose aim is to become a benchmark for renewable energy, especially wind energy, in which it is the world’s fourth largest producer.
The projects are located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, which is particulalry favourable for carrying out wind farm projects.
Elebras has a Project portfolio totalling 532 megawatts of installed capacity, of which 70 megawatts are still underdevelopment and the remainder are at different stages of development.
As well as these projects, EDP Renováveis Brasil is moving ahead with partnerships with Cemig and Petrobras for joint development of wind surveys.
EDP Renováveis Brasil is 55 percent owned by Portuguese company EDP Renováveis and 45 percent by EDP Energias do Brazil, a holding company that brings together electricity assets in the areas of generation, trading (Enertrade) and distribution( Bandeirante and Escelsa) and is controlled by the EDP Energias de Portugal group.
